Graduate Student Association

The PhD, MASc and MSc students are represented in the Department by the Materials Engineering Graduate Student Association (MTRL GSA).

This student-run club is currently being set up by a group of eager volunteers, and is supported in their efforts by the team in the graduate office.

The Materials Engineering Graduate Student Association (MTRL GSA) has a primary goal of fostering professional relationships within the Department of Materials Engineering, with industry and among students. To do this, MTRL GSA aims to build community in the Department with social events and professional activities, including guest lectures, on-campus networking events, and trips to local companies.

At present, the club hosts a regular coffee (Thursday @ 10 am, every other week) – details are circulated via the MTRL Faculty and Graduate Maillists.

Additionally, as the club gets up and running, the club will provide some social support for current and prospective graduate students, and provide resources as needed.

As needed, the MTRL GSA will work closely with other student clubs, including the MTRL Undergraduate Club (and the Joint Student Chapter).
