The campus supports a diverse range of academic and research activities, each with its own unique safety requirements in terms of scope and scale. To help address these needs, a Local Safety Team (LST) plays a critical role in supporting the work of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC). The LST provides site-specific safety information to the JOHSC, ensuring concerns are addressed at the local level.
The MTRL LST is composed of faculty and staff who meet monthly to discuss health, safety, and environmental issues impacting the Department. The team promotes health and safety awareness, identifies potential workplace risks, and provides recommendations to mitigate or address those risks.
