Awards and Scholarships

A range of bursaries, scholarships and other financial assistance is available each year to students in the Materials Engineering program, through the department, the university and other organizations.  See links below or contact the Undergraduate Program Assistant or a Faculty Undergraduate Advisor for more information.

Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC)

Attached is the call for the 2019 NSERC USRA competition. Please read the requirements carefully.

Key Points

*Must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada

*Must have an OVERALL (Years 1 to current) GPA of 68%

*Must have completed at least one year of your BASc degree.

*If you are graduating in May 2019 you ARE still eligible to apply.

* You must be available for a minimum 16 week period.



The department minimum pay scales are as follows:

Current 4th Year: $9600 for the period

Current 3rd Year: $8800 for the period

Current 2nd Year: $8000 for the period


If you do not know your overall GPA please send me your full name and student number.


It is up to you to contact potential supervisors about any possible positions. I have attached a list of all NSERC  holders in our department.
